Three years ago today, the Rangers' first round draft pick from 2007, Alexei Cherepanov, collapsed and later died during a KHL game. There has been much speculation surrounding his death, particularly concerning why the defibrillator at the rink wasn't working and possible doping. But, today we remember him as a talented young hockey player who inspired many people. Since his death, Chereoanov's team, Avanguard Omsk, has built a memorial museum and retired his number, 7. The KHL named their Rookie Of The Year award after him.
